GEYA Jersey Reclamation Program
The short version: If you have a GEYA soccer jersey you no longer need, please give it to your child's coach at your tournament or last game of the season. See explanation below.
Important News for GEYA Soccer Spring 2012 Registration
In an effort to better serve GEYA soccer families, the league will no longer require that players purchase a reversible uniform jersey. GEYA has decided to switch from jerseys to cotton T-shirts, which will be included in the registration fee and distributed to teams each season. Not only will this reduce the cost for families, it also affords GEYA Soccer the opportunity to promote our program in the community by offering sponsorships to local businesses. The new shirts will feature the GEYA logo screen printed on the front and a sponsor name and logo screen printed on the back with different colors for each team in a division.
We have initiated a two-year plan for the transition, with the Kindergarten division having received T-shirts for the Fall 2011 season.
-
For the Spring 2012 season, ONLY the Kindergarten division will receive T-shirts – all other divisions will continue to wear the reversible blue/white jerseys.
-
For the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 seasons, the Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd/3rd grade divisions will receive T-shirts – all other divisions will continue to wear the reversible jerseys.
-
For the Fall 2013 season and going forward, the Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade divisions will receive T-shirts.
If you register your child for a division that has already transitioned or will be transitioning to T-shirts that season, your child will automatically receive a T-shirt from the coach at the first practice.
If you register your child for a division that has not transitioned yet, you will have the opportunity to purchase a reversible jersey if you need one. Try to plan ahead – if your child can squeeze into that old jersey for one more season until the division transition, you might not have to buy a new one.
If you have a jersey or jerseys you no longer need, please give them to your child's coach at the last game of the season or at the tournament for the older divisions. We will then plan a swap day in the near future for families that would like to pick up a different size jersey to hold them over for a season or two.
When all divisions have switched over to T-shirts for the Fall 2013 season, we will hold another collection of usable jerseys with the intention of donating them to an inner city or under-privileged soccer organization.
