Frequently Asked Questions
- I registered my child; when will I hear from the coach? The Key Dates Page lists the dates by which you should hear about team assignments.
- It's past the date when I should have heard, and getting very close to the season start. How do I find out which team I'm on? Although you should have heard from your coach within a week of the start of the season, sometimes the coach's schedule and work commitments don't allow for immediate communication. In the meantime, you can check your registration account (see Registration Page for link) to see which team your child has been assigned to and check the Schedules Page to see the date and time of your first practice. This information, including your team roster, coach’s name and contact information, is usually posted within a week of the start of the season as well.
- I missed the registration deadline. Can I still register my child? It depends on whether the division in which your child would be placed has room for new players. Please email registrations@geyasports.org to check. If there is room, your registration will incur a $30 late penalty per child.
- I registered my child, but now we've decided to play another sport. Can I get a refund? As specified on the Policies and Procedures page, GEYA Soccer has a No Refund policy.
- How can I make sure my child is assigned to a team with a certain coach, friend or carpool buddy? You can't. As our Policies & Procedures Page clearly specifies, we politely ignore these requests as they are usually impossible to accommodate given the size and nature of the league. We do guarantee that siblings will be assigned to the same team (if they are playing in the same division), and coaches’ and assistant coaches’ children will be assigned to their team.
- How are teams created? In the K-5th grade divisions, commissioners do their best to place a few children from each school and grade level on every team. Coaches receive their team rosters at the coaches’ meeting, and they will contact you before the beginning of the season. In the 6th-12th grade divisions, commissioners try to maintain “core teams” of players who have been playing together season after season. They may also hold skills assessments at the beginning of the season to review all players and create balanced teams.
- When will my child get his jersey? If you ordered a jersey during registration, you will receive it from your coach at one of the initial practices. If you ordered a jersey as a part of a late registration or need to order a jersey, please watch your emails for special instructions on how to collect your jersey in time for your first game. Note: starting with the Fall 2011 Season, the Kindergarten divisions will no longer have to order jerseys but will receive jerseys when they meet with their coach.
- I didn't order a jersey when I registered my child. Can I buy one now? Soon after the first practice of the season, you will receive an email telling you the time and location that jerseys can be purchased. This will be your only chance to purchase a jersey if you don't have one. Note: starting with the Fall 2011 Season, the Kindergarten divisions will no longer have to order jerseys but will receive jerseys when they meet with their coach.
- I ordered a jersey at registration, but it doesn’t fit. How do I exchange it? Soon after the first practice of the season, you will receive an email telling you the time and location that jerseys can be purchased. This will be your only chance to exchange a jersey. Note: starting with the Fall 2011 Season, the Kindergarten divisions will no longer have to order jerseys but will receive jerseys when they meet with their coach.
- How can I change or add my email address so I receive all cancellation notices in a timely manner? The SportsSignUp registration system allows you to manage your personal information, including email address(es), from within the Registration System (see Registration Page for link). Log in using the username/password you used when registering your children, and click on the Edit link beside your name. You will be able to add up to three email addresses for each adult that's registered as a part of your account. You may add as many adults as you want within your account.
- Can I bring my dog to practices and games?
Since 2007, GEYA has had a policy of no dogs during league practices or games for the safety of all players and spectators.
- Who do I contact if I have a question or issue? If the question or issue is related to your team or schedule, first talk to your coach, then commissioner, then VP if you don't get a timely or appropriate response. If the issue is related to any of the areas of responsibility listed on the Board & Commissioners Page, then contact the appropriate Board member. If you’re not sure who to contact, send an email to the President, Secretary or one of the VPs.
- How can I get more involved with GEYA Soccer? GEYA Soccer is run by volunteers and we're always looking for more help. To get involved, send an email to the President or Secretary, or attend a monthly board meeting. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at Eagle Tavern in Eagle at 7:00 p.m. and are open to any active member of GEYA Soccer.
