GEYA Access to Youth Sports Scholarship

GEYA Access to Youth Sports Scholarship Program: Guidelines/Application

GEYA is pleased to report that a Youth Sports Scholarship Program (the “Program”) has been created to encourage and allow access to youth sports for participants who otherwise may not have the financial means or opportunity to participate.  Financial assistance through the Program is therefore available to assist those players who are not able to afford the total costs associated with playing GEYA recreational soccer or baseball.

Financial assistance funds are limited and will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Families within the community are encouraged to apply.  In the event financial assistance funds are exhausted for a particular season, no more aid can be given.  The GEYA Board is committed to maintaining low registration fees so that more children have the opportunity to play recreational soccer and baseball.  This commitment to low registration fees means that the number and amount of registration fee scholarships may be limited in a given year.

The GEYA Board will consider many factors when evaluating eligibility for financial assistance through the Program.  These circumstances may include, but are not limited to, a family hardship or burden, illness, loss of compensation or other changes in financial position.  Applications may be submitted to GEYA in the form of a short paragraph briefly stating any relevant information for consideration.  Please submit your application to: [email protected] for consideration.

Financial assistance applications must be made by a player’s parent or guardian. Financial assistance applications will be held in strict confidence between the parent/guardian and the Scholarship Committee of the GEYA Board.  The Scholarship Committee is a three member panel of the GEYA Board consisting of the GEYA President, Vice President and Secretary.  Please realize that a request must be submitted for each season, (i.e. Fall and Spring).  While the receipt of financial assistance in one season does not guarantee financial assistance in future seasons, the Scholarship Committee will make every effort to award financial assistance for the entire season (i.e. Fall and Spring).  The amount of the scholarship award will be determined by the Scholarship Committee.  In the event financial assistance funds are fully disbursed and funds remain, the Scholarship Committee may recommend that any remaining funds be used for the benefit of all of the children participating in GEYA’s youth sports programs.

GEYA encourages any family receiving financial assistance to help GEYA by volunteering during the course of the season.  This can be in the form of volunteering to help maintain playing fields, serve as an assistant coach, or assist with GEYA or team fundraising events.
