HIGH 5 Soccer

For the fall 2020 season, we will continue to offer the HIGH 5 Soccer program online on Saturdays in September and October. Here’s how it will work:

·      Download the FREE Zoom app to your computer, laptop, tablet or phone – wherever your player can watch and do activities like run in place, stretch and jump.

·      Each week we will send you an email with a Zoom invitation to join the session. It will have a link and a passcode that you’ll need to enter. (The invitation also appears below in red.) At 3 p.m. on Saturday, click on the link. You’ll be in a “waiting room” until the session starts.

·      Make sure your player’s FIRST name only appears on the screen so we can call them by name. Have a water bottle close by for water breaks.

·      We will set up the session so that everyone can hear the coaches, but not each other. During the session, Coach Matt will unmute each player to speak with them directly.

·      Sessions will be short, about 15 or 20 minutes. We’ll play our favorite games like Red Light Green Light, Simon Says, Sharks & Minnows and Buddy Bowling.

Matt Wagner is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

What does my child need to play? Your player will get a HIGH 5 t-shirt on their first day that they should wear to every session, along with comfortable clothes and sneakers. They can wear cleats and/or shin guards if they want to, but they are not required. Bring a bottle of water for your player. We provide juice and a snack after the session. If your child has a dietary restriction, please let us know and we will try to accommodate it.

What is the age range for players? Players can be from 5 to 18.

What is the age range for buddies? We usually ask for buddies to be in middle school or high school. If you have a younger child who would like to volunteer as a buddy, please contact the HIGH 5 coaches at [email protected]. If you are over 18 and would like to be a buddy, you must complete the background checks required by the state of Pennsylvania.

How can I help? You can be: a buddy – working one on one with a player; an activity leader – directing group activities; or a snack helper – you’ll be very popular!

Do I have to know anything about soccer to volunteer? No! As long you are enthusiastic, patient and love to make kids smile, you can volunteer.

How can I make a donation? You can mail a check to GEYA Soccer, P.O. Box 164, Uwchland PA 19480 with "HIGH 5" in the notes section or bring it to a session.

How long has HIGH 5 been around? HIGH 5 Soccer began in September 2012 with 7 players and 12 buddies. HIGH 5 is based on US Youth Soccer's TOPSoccer model, which has been successful in communities across the US since 1991. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. We are the first TOPSoccer league in Chester County and one of the largest in South Eastern Pennsylvania. For more info about TOPSoccer, go to the Eastern PA Youth Soccer Association website.
